Joseph Simota Sr., 76

Joseph Simota Sr., 76, of Le Center, died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 11 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Le Center, with Rev. Dean Larson officiating.

Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Le Center. Pallbearers will be Charlie Moore, Jim Budin, Mike Stang, Gordy Prochaska, Eric Braun and Lyle Holicky. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 10 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Le Center Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at church on Friday.

Joseph John Simota, Sr. was born March 19, 1928 in Scott County to Thomas and Rose (Ceplecha) Simota. He married Dorothy Simota on August 9, 1952 at Belle Plaine. He worked for Le Sueur County for 31 years, was a member of the Izaak Walton League and Pioneer Power, and played drums for the Country Gentlemen.

He is survived by five sons, Joseph (Darla) Shimota of Willmar, Roger (Mary) Simota of Trempealeau, Wisc., Robert Simota (and special friend, Sue) of New Prague, Mark (Kristy) Simota of Duluth, and Mike (Elline) Simota of Le Sueur; two daughters, Debra (Leon) Tellijohn of Le Sueur and Linda Lumsden (and special friend, Jamie) of Winona; two sisters, Rose Franek and Grace Simota, both of New Prague; a brother-in-law, Engelhard Schlauderoff of Montgomery; 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; a daughter-in-law, Becky Simota; a brother, George Simota; and three sisters, Emma, Helen and Adeline.
