Alice Deutsch, 81

Alice M. Deutsch, 81, of New Prague, died Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at Queen of Peace Hospital in New Prague.

Born September 16, 1927, in Cedar Lake Township, Scott County, Alice was a daughter of George and Clara (Scheffler) Zaun Jr. She was born and raised in the Lydia area, attended Lydia Country School and Jordan High School (1945 grad), and moved into New Prague after marriage. On June 14, 1947, she married Urban Deutsch at St. Patrick. Alice was a homemaker, was a St. Wenceslaus School cook and worked at Ballinger's Dairy in New Prague. She was a former member of the St. Wenceslaus Ladies Guild. Alice enjoyed baking and playing bingo.

She is survived by her husband; children Ronald (Linda) Deutsch, Hampshire, IL, Clarice (Leonard) Segna, Shakopee, Randolph (Rita) Deutsch, Coon Rapids, Donald Deutsch, Montgomery, JoAnn (Frank) Kuechle, Shakopee and Daniel (and Joyce Kubes) Deutsch, New Prague; sisters Virginia (Herman) Beuch, New Prague and Geraldine Petricka, Shakopee; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother-in-law Walter Petricka.

Funeral services were held Saturday, August 15, at 9 a.m., at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague, with Rev. Kevin Clinton officiating.

Interment was at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in New Prague. Pallbearers were Jason Deutsch, Jon Deutsch, Jacob Deutsch, Charles Segna, Leonard Segna and Frank Kuechle.

Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the Bruzek Funeral Home in New Prague.
